I simply oil them before use and have no problems with them. How much would buying 8 cheaper guns have cost? Far more than what my guns are worth. I am willing to pay for quality. They come up with the true problem solver tools that make impossible jobs possible. How much money are you making in your shop if you take twice as long to get the same job done with lesser tools? Those tools pay for themselves.
Go ahead and get your Craftsmen wrench on a tight bolt with the box end. When you round it off, my SO wrench will turn it. Thats the difference in the quality, and I would buy nothing less.
Does a cop carry a quality gun with reliable ammo, or does he buy some cutdown flea market pistol and cheap imported ammo? There is a reason on the tv shows that we all see where they build such awesome street machines there is a Snap-On toolset they are using.
FB like ha ha thats what got me payment plan and lifetime warranty but now i see iv been done over lifetime warranty is hard as the snap on van seems to stop coming round when you tell him you have a broken tool or he says he needs to order it in.
Different strokes for different folks. It depends on what you get paid, what sort of work you do, and what feels good. Most of my tools are Snap-On. I buy them because the tool guy shows up every week, on time, and is as professional about the tools and his job as i am about about mine. Once i retire, i may pass on my tools to someone else or sell them.
The brand is universally recognized by pros and the tools have resell value. There will be a Snap-On truck 40 years from now and the tools will be worth the same as they are now. If a Snap-On tool needs to be calibrated, it can be done pretty much anywhere. A couple weeks ago i asked him to send my refrigerant sniffer out for calibration since the AC season is coming up — he had it done at no charge to me.
Halfords target DIY. Both products are perfect for both customers. I can recommend the Wera Joker range of spanners, they cost quite a bit but grip the bolt heads so much better than cheaper ones. InitialDave 9, posts 90 months. I'm not even sure which end you hold a spanner, but I want that setup Old Merc said:.

My stuff is not the best Halfords, Teng, Sealey, Facom, Britool but neither is it cheap crap which breaks after the second use… got a Sealey half inch drive socket set which is still going strong after 12 years of heavy use. No broken sockets and the ratchet is in good order.
I have borrowed Snap-On tools from mates in the past. If money was no object come on Euro-Millions! Snap On spanners are probably the best and thats why there more expensive, its much cheaper to buy complete sets than individual spanners, the quality of some Snap On stuff has fallen over the years but not there spanners. Ive worn out a lot of Britool spanners over the years but never a Snap On one.
Not what it was to be fair, but definitely a name tax. The original Halfords professional range late 90's I think , was superb, and was actually made by facom.
Snap on is just too damn expensive for most younger techs. I recently inherited some 80's tools, and the quality is second to none , bahco, Britool, some snap on , dormer drill bits etc, no Chinese junk.
Chinese stuff has its place though. Most techs seem to use mac now, huge range, readily available at a reasonable price. But as we all know, it's the bloke using them that makes the difference. Willy Nilly 12, posts months.
Please read my disclaimer for additional details. Every wonder why so many people proudly show off their tools? Purchasing tools and all of the accessories you need to work on your car or toy around in the woodshop can be a once in a lifetime task.
Modern tools are more durable and have more features than ever. You find some fantastic all-around tools and tools that are made specifically for one function. But where are you going to store all of these items both affordably and effectively? Snap-on tool boxes are expensive due to the high quality and attention to detail that goes into manufacturing them.
Investing in the right storage for your collection will save you time and money in the long term. A Snap-on tool box will protect your tools, and the tool box itself will not break, rust, or require frequent replacement.
A Snap-on tool box can run you thousands of dollars. The most expensive of these amazing tool boxes are tens of thousands of dollars. These are not your average tool boxes. They do feel better and more positive most of the time. The professionals do seem to "disappear" more I would not buy anything lesser than Craftsman though.
Posted by: Rafman. I have tried China-made, Craftsman I think in an emergency, anything will do it, but I highly recommend to invest in good tools We stock a large selection of new, used and some NOS parts, and we ship worldwide. Nous parlons Francais et Espanol. Keep them rolling, peace out!
High quality tools and beer! Can't go wrong there!!!! If you had a Snap on or a Matco you wouldnt have to take it back.
Posted by: stitch. You get Quality tools and I agree! Time to invest in some Quality Beer! Posted by: 63spyder. Ive got both and snap ons are nice, but not that nice,I quit buying snap ons in my twenties as I realized I could get more tools to do what I want If I bought other than snap on.
Unless you work at a shop that has a tool truck show up regularly. It is realy tough to have tools replaced or repaired. I use a lot of craftsman and find they will do the job just fine.
When I do break a ratchet I just take it in, no questions asked such as why are there hammer marks on the handle ,I just broke a ratchet for the first time in 25 years I took it in and they didnt have that style anymore ,so they just upgraded me to their proffessional ratchet.
Posted by: danyarger. Snap on tools make great quality stuff, but in my oppinion, it's not worth spending your life savings for. I'd rather buy more medium grade innovative products like Gear Wrench or Kobalt tools. I have a lot of Craftsman stuff since I can find it cheap used at flea markets and I just take it back to Sears when it breaks.
Those Snap On ratchets you were looking at You could buy an entire Tool box worth of Craftsman tools for that price. The reason mechanics in Garage's like having Guaranteed tool truck tools is because if they break the tool, the truck comes to the shop where your working and replaces them.
